Candy, candy canes, candy corn and syrup

The four main food groups..

Tonight I felt a craving for something sweet. Since it's constantly so warm, you sort of lose your appetite for larger meals and whenever you're hungry you stuff yourself with something less healthy, and this is a trend I have to break.

Tonight, however, Germany was going to play Ghana in the World Cup, Sandra was going out with this portuguese girl (can't remember her name) and I had the flat for myself.

Sooo, I went down to Candynavia (clever...) only to find a sign on the door saying "Be right back". Well, I wasn't going to stand there like, sorry, a fat kid, drooling and waiting for them to return, so after 30 minutes I walked home... ha! (and yes, I returned later and got what I wanted. I wouldn't call myself unhealthy, I'm just determined :-)

Peace out!

Inget flams och trams..

I apologize to my three daily readers from USA, you won't understand the following clip, but I can assure you, they are awesome!

sir Anthony Hopkins

Who can forget Hannibal Lecter? Silence of the lambs is a cult movie, and sir Anthony Hopkins forever became the face associated with that of a cannibal. "Tssssstsstssss....."

I, however, had no idea that he had musical talents as well. Apparently he wrote this piece some 50 years ago, and have not heard it since.. Powerful stuff, listen and enjoy

St. Julian harbour

We went for a walk the other day and wound up in the local harbour. This is where Hilton hotel lies and some fancy shops that attract wealthy customers. It was very peaceful there and one could walk around, just looking at the nice boats, enjoying the views and the weather..

I have not been searching that long for ways to get out to the sea, but I've heard you easily can join a fishing boat if you so desire. We still haven't gone on a tourist trip to Gozo or Comino, but will surely do so soon. We've looked at some brochures and it looks quite amazing. Maybe go snorkeling for a day..

St. Julians, Malta

Thought I'd try and make you want to come and visit us here.. :)

Emily Howard is about to win Eurovision song contest..

I am a lady... jeesh..

Skype is nothing short of awesome

Just spent 25-30 minutes talking to a buddy of mine (he is the one looking the least retarded in the photo of us going sky-diving)

Skype is really something, isn't it?

Tonight I am forced to watch the Eurovision again (as I said earlier), but I have enough wine in front of me to make it through the evening..

Talk to yall later!

"We can't go bowling until we've found friends"

I came up with the idea for us to visit the worst nightmare for all those who are bacteriophobic. Just the thought of putting ones fingers in those bowling ball holes or using the same sweaty shoes as thousands have used before you makes me nauseous, BUT, bowling is awesome (if you only do it once a year) therefore I don't care!

Regardless, it seems we have to go hunting for friends before we can go. Every lane has to be played by at least 4 players, I asked and Sandra's multiple personas do not count :)

So, Eurovision it is then.. again..

Sandra killed the rooster and went back to bed

I, however, am going out for a walk. I think I'll be out for 45-60 minutes depending on when the battery of my phone dies. I'll make you a deal, every 5 minutes, I will stop and take a photo, in that way you can see what I am seeing.

So, see you in a bit!

One church per 1000 citizens

Our day at the beach was brief but lovely. The water was cold, so I behaved like a man and splashed some water on myself so it looked as if I had been swimming when I got back up :) It was a bit too hot though, so we only stayed for about one hour, but it was a good hour.

There are unbelievably many and beautiful churches here in Malta, just look at this one.

Who is ready for the beach?

The weather is superb, I've had a good enough night's sleep, so time to get going..

Taking the bus here in Malta only costs 1.5 euro, and this ticket is valid throughout the day. Don't know how warm the water will be, I'm (as we say in Sweden) a pot, meaning I don't go swimming unless it's very warm in the water.. Stupid expression really, why a pot? Don't now it's origin..

I am going to bring my camera and take some photos, so we can only get wet one at a time, which suits me perfectly as an excuse as why to stay outside of the water.. have to guard our belongings :)

Will let you know how the day turned out later and illustrate it for you!

Have a good one!

I love animals, but unfortunately, it's not mutual.

The following animals have made it obvious that they don't appreciate my presence here in Malta.

Dogs - Our neighbor has a balcony ten meters down and out from ours, and on this balcony a large and intimidating dog is keeping the peace. Whenever he spots me on our balcony, all shit breaks loose. He runs the entire 12-14 meters of his territory, up and down, down and up, never letting his gaze of this proposed threat. He barks and drools, needless to say, this is one mean jack russell ;)

Bees - I've only encountered one, but as soon as I felt something tickling my toe, I looked down to see him thrusting his nasty sting exactly beneath my toenail. But relax, I had my vengeance, and the whole thing ended quicker than he deserved..

Birds - The first time Sandra and I planned on getting a tan, a bird thought differently. I'm guessing he couldn't bare the view I presented him with, so he flapped his wings, aimed and fired. His yellow/green shit splashed all over my stomach. I've heard it means "good luck will come your way" if they take a dump on your head, but I don't know what this means though..

And finally.. Mosquito's - I guess I shouldn't say that they dislike me, in fact, they really seem to love me. So this works the other way around I suppose, but it's still a love/hate relationship we've got going on..

Tomorrow we are heading to the beach for our first swim. Ought I be afraid of what animals lure there, waiting for my pasty skin to make an appearance?

Oh, almost forgot.. I have made one friend here. I call him "Loke the Lizzard".

Variety is the spice of life

Since, in today's society, it is so easy moving abroad, I wonder why more folks don't give it a go. It's full of amazing life experiences and gives you meat on your bones. The thing holding most back (who do wish to try living in another country) I believe is the lack of security one may feel when leaving your home, friends, family, routines etc. It's scary, it can be..
But you grow accustomed to the way of living, which can take a while, but later on you feel more and more at home. If you don't like it after having tried it out, you move back "home" but at least you can say it wasn't for you.

The way politics is heading in many countries in Europe (Scandinavian countries very much included) is scary. Then why are more and more people listening to the voices of these deluding souls?
The feeling of companionship? - maybe.  The need to blame what's wrong in their own lives on someone else? - probably. Regardless of why, I truly believe openness would be better for all. By allowing people to live where they please, with whomever they wish, and do what they desire, that can't be other than good, can it? And I never believe for a second that the pride of our origin will fade just because people with different nationalities fill my street. Patriotism can be a good thing, be proud of your heritage and allow it to continue, just don't deny other people to share it.

Well, enough about that, I notice that it's difficult for me to write in English, it's been so long and I don't know how to switch the spell check into English, but I feel this is good practice for me, therefore I will continue..

In other news, I'm hearing an orchestra in my head, and they are not even playing the same song, at least they shut out all the voices.. eyy? :)

I am sitting comfortably on the couch whilst Sandra does the dishes and preps tonight's dinner (Carbonara-my favorite).

Have a good one!

Sports trader

This seems to be one of the most interesting jobs to be working with. If you have a mind for numbers, like watching sports and don't mind working late.. I've searched the web, trying to figure it out, and much of it comes down to statistics and minimizing risks. Earning solid money with little risk. Doesn't sound so bad does it? Anyways, I got an interview to go see about a guy.. Wish me luck! :)

A day in the sun with coffee, strawberries and relaxing relaxation :)

We desided to go for a walk this afternoon, and to let you viewers see just how beautiful it is here, I took some photos. Enjoy and be sure to visit this amazing coutry!

This is 100 meters away from our apartment. The boat on the other side goes to Valletta and takes about 20 minutes. It's a scenery which is hard to beat and like nothing we are used to back home.

These are typical Maltese fishing boats. Lively colours and very eye-catching. The one to the left has a motor, which ruins it a bit, but still beautiful. Don't know how the gain access to the boats though,  by swimming?

A picture says more than a thousand words..

This is our local beach, it's neither long nor wide, but good enough for some quick sunbathing.

This is just outside our apartment as well. Sandra is enjoying the weather and behind her is a bag full of strawberries and grapes (which I am currently finishing off whilst Sandra is counting sheep)

Eurovision song contest

The countdown has begun..

Normally I'm not a huge fan of the Eurovision song contest, but it feels a bit differently now, now that we are no longer living in Sweden. Here is a link if you want to watch it online:

http://www.svtplay.se/video/2010394/eurovision-song-contest-2014-semifinal-1

I'm not very optimistic about Swedens chances in the finals, but hopefully we can at least get there. Go Sanne!

OK, Sweden got to the finals at least! Good going Sanne!

What grinds my gears

Here is a list of a few things that has annoyed me the past few days, I'm normaly a happy go lucky kind of guy, but some things really, as our yellow friend on the TV would say, grinds my gears.

1. The sidewalks here in Malta are narrow to say the least, so if you're not alone, don't walk next to each other. I know you love-birds want to cuddle up close and share all impressions, which I totally get, but not all wants to walk in your pace. If the sidewalk is slim, walk in a line so others may pass!

2. If I, which I always am, am being a gentleman, holding the door open for you, letting you walk past me in the grocery shop because you have few items, allowing you to have my seat on the bus etc, etc. then why not aknowledge it? Say thank you or give me a smile. In that way I can be sure you appreciated my gesture, otherwise I might not do it the next time!

3. Don't use the honk (is it called a honk? funny name.. ) all the time. Back home we associate honking with a few things, maybe you are holding up traffic - by all means, honk.. maybe someone has walked out into the street and another driver is unaware of this, honk.. whenever there is danger or maybe if an animal is near the road.. honk. But here you honk at everything! Whenever I am outside and you honk whilst I'm just 5 meters away, my heart jumps up into my mouth and I have to swallow it again. That's not nice... You honk everytime you come close to an intersection, because you don't have the patience to slow down and look in each direction, you honk so other cars will know you are near.. You sir, you are a jack ass! (This is btw 80% off all drivers in Malta)

So.. there you have it. This is what has made me clench me fists in my pants the past few days. Other than this I've been smiling non stop :)

Next I will post some photos of our neighbourhood. It's truly beautiful here and if someone could teach the drivers some manners and maybe re-send them to driving school, it would be the perfect place to live in.

Malta weather forecast

Well, more clouds than I would prefer I'm afraid, but you know what they say, there is no bad weather, only bad clothes.. haha, that sounds better in Swedish, rhymes :)

Hope you have better weather, regardless of where you may be!

Eurovision talk

Soon it's that time again, eurovision..

This time it is being held in Copenhagen, a beautiful city I love spending time in, and the expectations are huge. Here in Malta they truly enjoy the Eurovision contest, so finding bars that air it will not be to difficult.

Since we no longer live in Sweden, we must cast our votes back home, don't we ;)

Who is your favorite for the win?

Favorite things to do on a sunday

What can you do on a sunday? The shops are all closed, all your friends want to rest and there is nothing good on the tellie.

I have this dilemma today. I've just downloaded the new Spiderman movie, but I want to save that gem for tonight :) So what can I do until then? I've already taken care of the dishes, I've been down to the swedish store to buy some milk and candy, and sure, I could always clean a bit more in my apartment, but come on, it's sunday ;)

So.. what to do, what to do..?

Reading is one option, but I only have one book left, and if I read this now I won't have anything left for tonight (I have to read before sleeping) so that's out of the question. Enjoying the sun is another option, one I just might consider. The sun is shining, and although there are a few clouds in the sky, it's nice enough to sit outside with a coffee on a bench somewhere..

Sandra and I have just recently started watching Vikings, and we have one episode in store.. it aired last night I believe.

Then late this evening another ep. of Game of thrones is aired!! There is no greater story, and I truly long for the next episode and loath when the series is on break. So many good characters and such a good story.. What will happen to Tyrion Lannister? Can't wait to find out..

What did we deside then? A coffee outside followed by hours in front of the TV? Sounds good enough for me :)

My beautiful girlfriend

I have to consider myself lucky, just look at her :)

Sundays, all the shops are closed

I understand why everything here in Malta is closed on sundays, I just don't like it. Why is sunday the day for going to church, resting and repenting? If I don't get my milk in the morning, I'm not a happy go lucky man anymore. As it happened to be, I was out of milk today of all days, got out to go buy some and didn't remember it was a sunday. Luckily for me the swedish shop in St. Julians were open! They only had lactos free milk, but it works good enough, thank you very much! Now I can eat my cereal, drink my coffee and enjoy this lazy sunday afternoon the way God intended me too :)

Drink up everybody!
